Collar Choke from Mount

Gi collar strangulation from mount that feeds cross collars and finishes with posture and elbow pressure — a high-percentage mounted attack.

blood choke
Overview

The collar choke from mount feeds one or both hands deep into the gi collars while you maintain heavy hips. Compared with closed-guard cross-collar attacks, mount gives you gravity and posture control, making the finish higher percentage when grips are deep and elbows pinch.

#Setup
  1. Stabilize mount with knees pinched and head control.
  2. Feed a deep cross-collar grip with the fingers inside the collar.
  3. Add the second collar grip or a supporting palm on the opposite collar/line.
#Execution
  1. Lower your chest and pinch elbows toward their neck.
  2. Expand pressure by dropping posture rather than yanking arms alone.
  3. Keep hips heavy so they cannot bridge you off mid-finish.
#Finishing
  1. Tighten gradually until the tap; avoid cranking the jaw.
  2. If they turn, transition to technical mount and continue collar pressure or switch to the back.
  3. Release immediately on tap.
Primary Targets
  • Neck
  • Carotid arteries
Key Concepts
  • Deep collars beat strong arms.
  • Mount posture and hip pressure finish what the grips start.
  • Have a technical-mount exit when they turn to a hip.
Primary Entries
  • High mount after a clean pass.
  • Side control to mount climbs when they frame poorly.
  • Failed americana or armbar attempts that leave collars available.
Defenses & Counters
  • Expect two-on-one grip fighting — re-feed depth before squeezing.
  • Watch for bridge-and-roll; keep a post ready without abandoning the choke early.
  • If they hide the chin, improve mount height and collar depth rather than yanking.
Follow-Ups
  • Technical mount when they turn to escape.
  • Armbar if they extend an arm to peel grips.
  • Ezekiel variations when one collar grip remains and the other hand frees.
Training Drills
  • Mount collar-feed drills with cooperative posture
  • Collar choke finishes with progressive bridging resistance
  • Mount to technical-mount collar chains

Summary

Mounted collar chokes win with deep grips, heavy hips, and pinched elbows. Feed the collars from stable mount, finish with posture, and follow to technical mount when they turn.
